HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 10.16.1973 Minutes of the City Council of Laurel October 16, 1973 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, was held in the Council Chambers, and was called to order by Mayor Louis M. Yogetich, at 7200 o~clock, P.M., on Tuesda~r, October 16, 1973. Upon taking roll ca11, the following aldermen answered present: Torn Hard Tvm Kilpatrick aay Easton Henry Gcjmer E.H. Ebersviller, Sr. Thy m3nute~ of the previous meeting were read. Motion was made by Gower and seconded by Hard that the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried. Report of the Police Judge way presented. P2otion way made by K3.lpatrick and .tecond~d by Cxomer that this report be approved. Motion carried. Reports of the patrolmen that had been presented at the last meeting and referr~:d back to committee were presented ~.ga3n. Motion way made by Easton and seconded by Kilp~tri~k that the reports be approved at this time. Motion carried. Certain reports of the City of Laurel, were presented for approval as follow: City Clerk~a Trig.]. Balane~~ pity Clerks Cash report and City Treasurers Financial Statement. Mo~ior~ w~.s made by Ebersviller and ~~canded by ~cann~:r that these reports be approved. Motion carried. City Clerk presented a claim signed by Earl Crow fox 9 days sick leave. There was much discussion on this matter, and no decision was made at this time. The Mayor brought up the subject of a census for thy; City of Laurel. He cc~nmended Vickie Look on her Revenue Sharing report to the council. The Mayor reported on the labor ne~oti~.tions, and stated that things were at astand-still. He then appointed the dissenting aldermen to the negotiations ec~arnittee. They are Tin Kilpatrick, Chairman, Tam Hard, Gay Easton and Chuck Rodgers. H~, stated that since the personnel cc~nmittee has resigned verbally, he made this new appo3.r~tment. Gomez made the motion, ~econdEd by Kilpatrick, that this resignation of the personnel committee be accepted, and that the Mayor's new appointment be approved. lotion carried. The Mayor was called to work snd turned the gavel over to President of the Council, E. H. Ebersviller, Sr. Gcener reported that the street and alley committee had met with the Chief of Police, Fire Chief and the City Engineer regarding opening another street or streets to eighth Street. Gcener recc ended that the City' open Cottonwood and Elm, but that water lines must be put in first. Cottonwood to be opined first, and a water hydrant be placed at .Cottonwood and Eighth, I and Elm to be ~op~nexi at a later date, and a hydrant be installed at Elm and Eighth. Kilpatrick made the motion-that the City open up Cottonwood and put I in a water line. Seconded by Gower, and the motion carried. Gower reported on a certain water pips at the Cemetery that could possibly cause ~cxneone to fa1.1. Mayor reported on the dip that he had authorized put in on fourth and seventh. Easton made a committee report that the council committee had met with the School Board and they jointly appointed Kent Harris to work on this committee, and they also appointed Vicki Look as their aee~etary~. Easton reported on the Mutual Aid Ccenmitt@e with the City of ~illing~, regarrLing fire de~partrnent equi.p~nent. There i~ an a~ree~nent being prepared and the City of Hilli.ngs will approve this agreement first, and then pass 3.t on to Laurel. There being no furth~.r busin~s~ to erne before the council a~ this sessions motion was duly made and seconded that the meting be adjourned.
