H. Ebersviller, Sr.~ in the absence of the Mayor, at 7.00 o~clock~ P.M., on Tuesday„ October 2, 1973. Upon taking ro11 call, the following aldermen ans~rer~d present: Taffn Hard tray Easton Tc~n Kilpatrick Bob Burns Henry Gom~r Chuck Rodgers Ervin Metzger The minutes of the previous regular meeting of September 18~ 1973 were read. Motion was made by Metzger and seconded by Gamer that the minutes be approved a~ read. Motion carried. The minutes of the speci~.7. m~etin~; of September 26th w~:re read. Motion was duly made and seconded that the ~i~utes be approved as read. Motion carried. However, motion way made by Kilpatrick and seconded by Metzger that the council rescind the passing of Resolution ~7.li58 as being unne~es~~ary. Motion ca.rri~d. Kilp~~rick theft made thy. emotion seconded by Hard that the City Clerk write a letter to the County Co~runission~rs stating that the City of Laurel wished to be excluded from the Cotanty~ s plans for a Crarba~;e District. Motion carried. Reports of the Patrolmen were presented £or approval. Motion was made by Burns and seconded by Kilpatrick that these reports be approved. Motion c~.rried. Certaa.n reports of the Cityr of Laurel, were pre~ent~d for approval. as follows: City C1erk~s cash report, Clerk~~ trial b~lanee, Gity Treasurer s f3.nancial. report. Motion wa.s made by Metzger and Seconded by Burns that these reports be approved. Motion carried. Returning to the subject of the reports of the patrolmen, Burns made the motion to rescind hip motion of approval of these reports. Kilpatrick rescinded his second. Tneluded in the motion was a requ~;~t to turn these reports back tv the pol3.ce cc~mm3.tte~. Motion carried, City Clerk presented a written report on the convention of the 7~eague of Cities and Towns. Motion Nay made by Metzger and seconded by Hard that the report be approved. Motion carried. Easton reported on a meeting of the City of Laurels and the City of Billings^regarding mutual aid between the two cities. The committee i~ ~oin~ our for xur~ner st~c~y. Easton reported on the committee of the city council and the school board, but Mated that plans for the Herbstfest had interferred. He s~~.ted that Allen .Richardson and Clarence Karst were to work with Burn$ and hims~l.f'. Easton brought up the ~ub~ect o~ the dip on foar~h ave. ar~d 7th street. Burns mentioned also the corner of 1~th and kth, and 1~th and 3rd. Eber~viller reported that his committee was meeting with the City ~nployees next week, and that the flooding could be discussed at this meeting, when the Mayor could be pr~s~:nt. It was reported that Garner and Kilpatrick were ~o meet with Hard and Rodgers regarding opening one of the streets at the East end of town. .Rodgers ~ugge~ted that the committee set up a date for a meeting with -Ghe Fourth Ward aldermen, City Engineer and the Police Chief and Fire Chief to study this problems. Meeting was then set for October 3rd at 6:00 o~eloCk' P.M. Motion made to this eff~a~ by Rodgers and seconded by Kilpatrick. Motion carried. Metzger brought up the subject of the dog catcher. It way the opinion of the council that his services be discontinued. Chief of Police reported on the Herbstfest. He a1~o have a report of an accident ~o the polio car. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel City Engineer requested a street light at Cottonwood and Eighth. Motion was made by Kilpatrick anei seconded by Metzger that the City Clerk writ a letter to the Montana Power Co. Motion parried. City Engineer reported on three college students rho had worked for the city for the sw~ner and requES~ed that the city authoritie a bonus. After Much di.~cussion, motion way made by Metzger and seeond~d by Burns that thee: boys be given a bonus that wotil.d bring their wages up to $3.19 per hour. Motion carried. Ebersviller reported that the ~itp should creek down ors bicycle rider. Regarding the contract with the water-sewer planning agency,, motion way made by Metzler and seconded by Kilpatrick that the City Attorne;~ look over the contract, and of it looks to be right and proper that the Mayor be authorized to sign this contract. Motion carried. There being no further bu~in~~s to comae before the council at this time, motion was m~.de b9 Metzger and seconded by Easton that the meeting be ad~ourned« Motion carried.
