Oath of 0_ffiae to the newly elected City Officials, the regular meeting of they
City Council of the City of L~.urel, Montana., was held in the Council Chambers, and was called to order by Mayor Louie M. Yovetich, at 7:00 o~clock, P.M., on
Mondays May 7th, 1973•
Upon taking ro11 ea.11, the following aldermen answered present:

lotion was made by Kilpatrick and seconded by ~bersviller that the Mayor's
appointments be approved. Motion carried with Rodgers voting "No".
The next order of bus3.ness would be the election of a President of the
Counei~s Motion was made by ^~e~nner and seconded by K~.lnatrick that Ebersviller be nominated. Motion carried. There .be~.ng no further nominations, motion was
made bar dodgers and seconded b~T Me~z~er that the nomination. be closed. Motion
carried.
This being the time and ~laee advertised for the opening of bids for
Street materials, the City Clerk way asked to open and read the bids as received
which was done as follows:

The Mayor then adjourned the meet3.n~ for ten m3_nu-tes for the council to consider
the bids. Upon re-convening the meeting, mot?on was made by Ebersvi~ler and
seconded by Burns that the bid of Willi~n Krug Sanc1 & Gravel, Long Construction Campany~ and the Farmers Lrnion Central ~xcharige be accepted, subject to approval
of the P~tontana State Highway Department. Motion carried.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion was made by Metzger
and seconded by Hard that the ~rzinutes be approved Gs read. Motion carried.

Ebersviller and seconded by Gamer that this ordinance be declared passed end
adopted. Upon taking roll call vote, all aldermen ~roted "A~-e" end said ordinance w~.s declared passed ~^n~ ~.p~roved.

OF THE CITY OF T~AUREL, MONTANA, was presented: Motion was made by EbersvillPr
and seconded b~- Rodgers that this Resolution be passed and adopted. Motion carried.
Mr. Al Littler, of the Community Action Pro~r~n appeared before the
council anal explained the f,1ISTA program. Motion was made by Ebersvil7.er and
seconded by Burns that the M~~,yor be authorized to write a letter stat3~ng approval
of the Vista Frogram. Motion carried.
Littler ~1so explained the i~ome Mart progr~n. .After discussion,
motion was made b~T Burns and seconded by Lard that the Ma;~or be author zed to
write a letter to ~ Mrs. ~3est stating council approval of this program. Mota.on
carried.
Certain reports of the City o.f Laurel, Montana, wire presented ~'vr app- roval as follows: City Clerks Cash report, City Clerks trial balance, City
Treasurer's financial re~aort. Motion was made by Ebersviller and seconded by
Metzger that these reports be approved. Mo~;.ion carried.
Letter was read from Les ~~ssac~, ].9 - 8th ~~ve., requesting street
1i~hts between Mein Strut and Fourth Street on eight Ave. This matter turned over to the light and water committee, and then City Clerk to write a letter to
the P~ontana Power Crnnpany.
Report of the Police Jude wa.s presented. Motion was made by ~od~ers
and seconded by Gamer that this report be approved. Motion carried.

bett~en second street and fourth street was taken under consideration, and referred to the Street and A11ey Cammi~tee.
Letter read from Leonard Wollan regarding tt~e City-County H~a].th
Program. It was decided to invite Mr. Wo11an to the next regular council
meeting on May 15th and ask for a report.
Letter read from T~.obert S. Raundal regarding the proposed sanitary landfill in conjunction with the county.

Metzger reported that L7ione ~nith w~.n.ted to resign from the Ccanmun ty
action ccxnmitte~.
Police to cheek out- a complaint r. eported by Gccxnner regarding; the ambul~ce
being perked in the alle3r preventing access to same garages.
Burns reported on the price of anew mower for l~verside Park at a
price of $3,5g~.00, and a. tr~.ler to transport it from place to place.
i~urns s~atecl he had given permission for the Lalzr~l anci Billings
softball league to use the baseball field on Monday nights.
BL:rns reported a drainage problem on Fourth !venue and Third Street.
Me-Gzger also reported Fourth Ave. and Seventh Street. The Mayor apx~oa.nted a
c~nmittee of Burns, Chi rman, Gomer and Easton to work with the City ~n~ineer on
this matter.
Burns reported a paroblem with certain employes ha~~.n~ a drinking problem. He read ~ "Directive to all City Employees" on the use of alcohol and
non-~reseriptwon drugs. ELfter discussion, motion was made by Kilpatrick and
seconded by Rodgers th~.t the council accept-, this directive. ?lotion carried.
Ebersv~ller th~.nked the council for electing him President of the
council.

Kilpatrick mentioned complaints about dogs.
Kilpatrick st~.ted the stop 7_ight on lst 4ve. and 6th Street should be
changed.
Kilpatrick reported holes in the street.
Kilpatrick su~;gesteci that the Mayor appoint only city residents to the zoning board.
Kilpatrick called a water ecrmmittee meeting ~ollowin~ the council
meeting.
Daley reported that I~3.ch~d ~~etz~er, Jim Redman. and Va11ey Heel were attending the meeting at Hardin.
There being no further bu~in~ss to come before the council at this
session,, motion was duly made and seconded that the meeting be adjourned. Moth on
carried.
