HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 10.10.197711~Iinutes of the pity ~ounci~ of Laurel October ],0, 1477 A especial meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Mant., was held in the Masonic Temple, and was caTl.ed to order by Mayar Larry D. Herman at 3:15 P.M., on Monday, October 10, 1977. COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Donald Meyers Ronald Massey Albert Ehrlick Thomas Kilpatrick Susan Carter Ervin Metzger Harold Surns Charles Rodgers OTHER PERSONS PRESENT: Dr. Kenneth Bryson, Fact Finder Doris Doppler, City Negotiator The Mayer informed the council that the fact finding hearing was in progress and that he .had agreed with the union representatives to try mediation for a period of time before returning to the fact finding hearing. Dr. Bryson, the fact finder, would act as the.meda~ar. The union representatives would meet with the mediator in another part of the building, The mediator would go back and forth between the council and the union representatives to see how far apart the parties were in the present dispute. btOTiON TO INCREASE OFFER: Pdotion by,A].derman Meyers: That the city go }.5~ above the matrix,. with longivity remaining at $3,d0 per year up to and including 25 years. Seconded by Carter. Passed by all members of the council present. Dr. Bryson acting as mediator during a period of approximately 2.5 hours held conferences separtely with the council and the union representatives. It was the opinion of Dr. Bryson that with the increase of the city offer to 15G above the matrix that the city and union were about double-apart. Dr. Bryson pointed out that what had taken place during the period of ~I mediation would have no effect on the fact finding hearing and that the city and union would return to their positions prior to the mediation. I MOTION TO ADJOURN ANB RETURN TD FACT FINDING: ~I Motion by A1.derman Massey: That as the process of mediation having i, .failed that the council adjourn and that the fact finding hearing continue. Seconded by Alderman Kilpatrick. Passed by all members present. Approved by the Mayor and passed by the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana. I -fir La ry D.
