HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 02.01.1977 'i Minutes of the City Council of Laurel February L, 1977 ICI I A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, i was held in the Council Chambers and was called to order by Mayor Louis M. ~I Yovetich, at 7:00 o'clock, P.M., on Tuesday, February 1, 1977. Upon taking roll call, the following aldermen answered present: Tam Hard Gay Easton Tom Kilpatrick Chuck Rodgers Ervin Metzger ~'i Herman Michael E.H. Ebersvill.er, 5R. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion was made by Hard and seconded by Michael that the minutes be approved as corrected by I~ Kilpatrick. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 15$0 RESOLUTION N0. 1580, BEING.A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING CERTAIN FUNDS OF I~ THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA, WAS READ. Motion was made by Ebersviller and seconded i by Metzger that the Resolution be passed and adopted.. Motion carried. ~i Letter was read,. written by James W. Martin, requesting the consideration of equalization of sewer rates, etcetera. Kilpatrick reported that the water and sewer committee had met with the consulting engineer, and they have been working on this. Mr. Martin did not attend this meeting. Kilpatrick asked permission to write a ]<etter to Martin. He then made this in the form of a motion, seconded by Michael that Kilpatrick write this letter, and inform Mr. Martin that the problem is under study. Motion was made b I ~ 976 y Hard and seconded by Kilpatrick that Resolution No. 1587 be declared passed ~I and adopted. Motion carried. I RESOLUTION NO. 15$$ A RESOLUTION GIVING NOTICE OF INTENT TO EXTEND INTERIM ZQNING ORDINANCE NO. 613 FOR ONE (1) YEAR TO MARCH 2, 1978, ORDINANCE NO. 613 BEING AN ORDINANCE ADOPTII3G AN INTERIM ZONING ORDINANCE EXTENDING ONE Y MILE BEYOND LAUREL CITY ~ ~ LIMITS. Motion was made by Kilpatrick and seconded by Easton that Resolution No. 158$ be declared passed and adopted. Motion carried. Beven reported on the Civil Defense Siren, and needed .repairs. Civil Defense will pay 50~ of the cost which should run between $75Q.00 and $1,000.00. Motion was made by Ebersviller and seconded by Hard that Beven be given the authority to make these repairs with the approval of the finance committee. Motion carried. Beven requested permission to attend a Water meeting in Bozeman an March ~I 24th and 25th. Motion was made by Kilpatrick and seconded by Ebersviller that Beven be allowed to attend. Motion carried. Metzger asked permission to leave the State. Motion was made by Rodgers and seconded by Ebersviller that permission be granted. Motion carried. Metzger reported that the money in the sum of $15,700.00 from the County to the City for the Library hid arrived... Also that the transfer had been made from Light #1 and Light #2 to the Police Fund. (General). He -stated that in the future all purchases would be okayed before the purchase is made. Mayor read several letters from Melcher, Marlenee, and others. Kilpatrick stated that he is against the First Avenue site for the post office. Kilpatrick said that the council should write to Monahan with a copy to Melcher and ask him to attend a public nearing to be held during the week o£ February 13th through the 18th, with the exception of regular council meeting night, February 15th. Montee to see to it that such a hearing be set up. The Mayor announced a public hearing on water rates for 10:00 A.M., on Thursday, February 24th at Riverside Hall. Two applications for Auxiliary Police were read. Bill Brennan and Anthony Betschowa. Motion was made by Kilpatrick and seconded by Michael that these appointments be approved. Motion carried. The Mayor stated that we should have the ordinances re-codified. He said for the City Clerk to Contact Sterling Codifiers and pay the bill from Revenue Sharing Funds. Motion was made to this j effect by Kilpatrick and seconded by Ebersviller. Motion carried. I I I There being no further business to come before the council at this session, motion was duly made and seconded that the meeting be adjourned. 11:15 P.M.
