HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 12.16.1975_ _ _ i Minutes of the City Council of Laurel December 16, 1975 1~ regular meeting off' the City Council of the amity of Laurel, Montana, was held in the Council Chambers and called to order by President of the Council,, E.H. Ebersviller~ Sr.,, in the absence of the Mayor, at 7:0~ o~clock, P.M., on Tuesday, December 16, 1975. Upon taking roll call, the following aldermen answered present: Ervin Metzger Herman Michael Sue Carter Chuck Rodgers Tom Ki3patrick Gay Easton mam FIard The minutes of the previous meeting of December 2,, 1975, were read.- Motion was made by Metzger and seconded by Easton that the minutes be approved. Motion carried. City Treasurers F~.nancial Statement for the month of bTovember was presented for approval. Motion was made ley Rodgers and seconded by Metzger to approved this report. Motion carried. Metzger reported that the Finance Committee would 7_ike to reccxinmend raising mileage from 12¢ per mile to 15~ der mils. They would also like to raise Per Diem fran $15.00 to ~i20.~0. If the Per Diem exceeds the X20.00 end the people save their slips they will be honored. Motion was made by Metzger anc1 seconded by Rod~~rs to accept the recommendation of the cc~mmitte~. Motion carried. Motion was then made by Metzger and seconded by Rodgers that the claims from thy: men attending water and sewer schools be honored and paid immeda.ately. Motion carried. Metzger presented the budget for the builc~i.ng and safety -Planning and Zoning Department>for ~13,~75.00. He stated that the finance committee has approved this budget. Motion was made by Carter and seconded bye Easton to approve the budget as long as they don't go over the amounts listed. Motion c arx~i e d. Sue Carter staated that she talked to Dr. Sheckleton c~ncernin~ the Senior's Dinner ?rogram. Carter asked if the city w~.s aoin~ to allocate $2,000.00 ? (the same as last year) to the program. Motion was made by Carter and seconded by Kilpatrick to allocate this money., Motion carried. Ebersviller stated that the Supervisors report has not been settled and. he wrauld like the council of the whole to stud~T this problem. A Special meeting to be set up after the lst of the gear, at the Mayor's convenience. Mantes asked for the decision regarding: the pl b n~ in.~pections Motion way made by Kilpatrick and seconded by Hard that the City enter into the a~reemen.t with the states and also to extend the plumbing inspections to include our 1~~ mile ~~risdiction. This will include the plumbing and building codes. Motion carried. Lenhardt reported 3 ne~~ members to the aux. pola_ce. Margaret Gatts~ ~ ausan Strand and Donald gown, Jr. Motion Was made by Kilpatrick and seconded by Metzger to approve `'these members. Motion carried. - Lenhardt reported that the city has been approved fora $1.,479.80 matching crime control grant. This money to be used for jail equipment in the new ec~mplex. Motion was made by Easton and seconded bye Metzler that permission be granted. Motion carried. Daley stated that the state safety inspector was here and inspected the entire city. Daley said he fcYUnd alot of infractions. The lst 3_nspection is made with no mandatory changes. If we ever have a mandatory a_nspection thou~h~ and the infra.c;tions have not been corrected, the city will be subject to fine. Two thins that could. warrant an inspection are an accident involving city equip~- ment or a ccxnplaint by any employee who ~'sels he is working in unsafe conditions. Daley stated that he is in the process of correcting the m?_nor infractions. Herman ?Uiichael asked permission to leave the state. Motion was made by Metzger and seconded by Hard that permission be granted. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the council at th~.s time, motion was du1.y made and seconded ghat the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried.
