A regular meeting of the City Counci_1 of the City of Laurel
Montanan was held in the Council Chambers, and was called to ore~e~ by
Mayor L. M. Yovetieh~ at 7:~~ o~eloek, P. M., on ~u~sday~ November
` 1975 .
Upon taking ro1.1 cal1~ the following aldermen answered presents
E. H. Eb~;rsviller~ Sr. Larry Hexman Gay Easton Tom Kilpatrick
Sue CarAter Ervin Metzger Tom Hard Chuck Rodgers
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion was made
by Ebe~sviller and seconded by Hard that the minutes be approved as read.
Motion carried.
There was duscussion re~ardin~; writing letters to our congress-
men about the co~.incil objection to slurry pipe lines.
City Attorney was ilJ. anddi.d not attend the meeting, but sent
mlong a Resolution and Easement with a notation to ~~Pas~ & Approve". This
document concerns an e~.sement with the Mantana Dakota Utilities CQ ~ A
corporation. Motion was made by Herman and seconded bg Carter that this
resolution and easement be accepted subject to studg by the C~~ty ~gine~~
and his approval. Motion carried.
Claims for the month of October were presented for approval as

lotion was made by Metzger and seconded by Ebersviller that the claims be
allowed. Motion carried.
Metzger reported on starting a bu3.lding and safety department,
~.nd hiring a seer~tary for the Mayor. He stated that there was a meeting of
the finance committee. Building inspection fees to ~;o into a special fund.
The question of salaries has been discussed. but not acted on. Motion was
made to this effect, by Kilpatrick and seconded by Eb~rsviller that the re- cominendations of the committee be adopted with the stipulation that the
building inspection fees be relegated to a special fund. Motion carried.
Easton reported on the water department and Dave Murravts subdi-
vision. Herman reported talking to other sub-dividers who would be willing
to pay a water hook-up fee. Easton asked that the Mayor turn this matter
back to committee to report at the next meeting. Montee reported on this also.
Daley reported that there would be a ~afi.~r Schocal 3.n Ba~;eman from
November 17th through the 21st. Laurel has sent men in the past. ~3~.00
registration fees and $3.75 for books. Lotion was made by Kilpatrick and
seconded by Carter to send two or three men at the disereta.on of the Cit~r
Engineer. Motion carried.
Carter reported. on the Park Co~nission~ ar~d requested trot the City
Attorney look into the lease the C3_ty h~,s with the Rifle Club. The Ways &
Means Committee to work with the Park Commission.
Marvin Carter invited the Mayor and Council to a meeting with the
Loca.1. Government Study Commission on November lt}th, and invited the depart-
ment heads to the same type of meting on November 17th.
The Mayor asked that the Cy.ty Clerk write ~ letter to the Herbst- fest Committee, mentioning what a wonderful job was done at the annual
Herbstfest in Laurel. Motion was made by Kilpatrick and. seconded by Easton
to this effect. Motion carried..
The Mayor mead a letter regarding the opposition of the Council to
the coal slurry pipe lines. After discussions motion was made by Ebersviller and seconded by Kilpatrick that the council re-affirm its .dormer position.
Motion carried.
Metzler thanked the City Engineer for the map on the wall.
There being no further business to come before the council at this'
session, motion was duly made acid seconded that the meeting be adjo~aed. Mo- tion earr3.ed.
