Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
June 3, 1975
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurels Montana,
was held in the Council Chambers, and was called to order by Mayor Louie M.
Yovetich at 7s~0 a'cl<~ek~ P.M., on Tuesday, June 3, 1975•
Upon taking roll call, the following aldermen angw~red present:

The minutes of the m~e~ting of May 20th were re~.d. Motion was made by
Ebersviller and seconded by Hard that the minutes be; approved with one correction. Motion earr~.ed.
The minutes of the special meting of May 28th were read. Motion was
made by Hard end seconded by Ebersviller that the minutes be approved as read.
Motion carried.
Claims for the month of May wire presented for payment as follow:

Motion way made by Metzger and seconded by Carter that the claims for the month
of May be allowed. Motion carried.
RESOLU'.~ION N0. 107
RESOLUTION N0. 1507, BEING A RESOLUTION PROPOSING TO EXTEND THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA, TO INCLUDE LOPS 5, 6~ PORTION
OF' 7, PORTION OF 13, 1l~, AND 15, IN BLACK 13, was presented. Motion was
duly made and seconded that Resolution No. 1507 be passed and adopted.
Motion carried.
Report of the Policy Judge was presented for approval. Motion way
made by Ebersviller and seconded by Hard that the repox~ bc~ approved. Mo~i4n carried.
The Mayor reported that he had appointed new ec~nmittees, making
more ecxnmitteeg, but smaller, three person cc~nmittees.
City Attorney spoke on the proposed pwnp station north of the City.
James Twomey requESted an option on certain property which the city
owns. He means to develop housing for the elderly. Thy Mayor called for
investigation on this matter, and called a special meeting fir next Tuesday,
June 10, 1975 at 7:00 P.M.
City Engineer spoke on a meeting which h~ would like to attend at
~~wistown. Registration fee to be X7.50. Herman. made the motion that the
City Engineer, Water Plant Supervisor and members of the water committee be
allowed to go i~ possible. Seconded by Ebersviller. Motion carried.
Hard mentioned ecxnplaints about license fees. The Mayor turned this
matter over to the Ways and Means committee.
Easton reported on the draa_n ditch by the Helmer Kautz r~sidenee.
He stated that the Ditch Cc~npany has allocated money to clean the ditch.
Eb~rsailler reported that a certain property owner had had hip name
removed fr~n a Special Improvement District that was crested to install curbs & gutters, with the promise that he would install these himself, within a

seconded by Kilpatrick to notify the propertq owner to put in the curb and gutter by the first of July or the city will do the work and it will be
charged to him on his takes. Letter to be sent registered mail. Motion carried.
Rodgers asked that the three attendants on the l~mbulance be raised
X25.00 per month. Motion was made by Rodgers and seconded by Metzger that this
raise be given, and to be effective July 1, 1975. Motion carried.
It w~.s also asked that permission be granted to turn the unpaid
ambulance billy over tQ a collection agency. Motion made to this effect by
Metzger and seconded by Rodgers. lotion carried.
Carter reported on alleys.
Carter stated that the Planning and Improvement Committee r~c<mamended
that there be a truck route on Eighth Avenue or First Avenue, and close Twelfth
Street to truck traffic. She made this in the for~ri of a motion. Police to
notify contractors, and elrivers of cement and gravel trucks. Seconded by
Ebersviller. Motion carried.
Carter asked whether or not the City Employees should be allowed to
use the City Equipment. This matter turned over to the Planning and Improvement

Metzger stated that the Refinery' did a lot for the city of Laurel, and
there should be a mutual agreement.

Herman reported on the City-County Planning Board, arad on the Zoning
Bo~.rd of Ad~ustanents.
Ines ~Taughn appeared before the cotar~cil to report on people who have
wells. After discussion, motion was made by Her~ari and seconded by Hard that perscaz~ be required to b~.i.ld same type of retaining wall to keep their water
from running on other people's property. Motion carried.
Mrs. Vaughn asked for the use of the Cemetery Backhe~e. This matter
turned over to the Cemetery Board.
yarrg Lorfing appeared before the council in behalf of the Laurel
Jayceens who asked permission to pa3.nt the Fire Hydrants as Minute Men for
the Bicentennial Projects. The Mayor referred this matter to the Police and
Fire Committee with authority to aet.
There being no further business to ecane before the council at this
session, motion was duly made and seconded that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried,
