HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 03.19.1974Minutes of the City Council of Laurel March 19, 1971 A. regular meeting o~ the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, was held in the Council Chaanbers and called to order by Mayor L.Nt. Yovetich, at 7:00 o'clock, P.M., on Tuesday March 19, 1971 • Upon taking roll call, the following aldermen answered present: Tom Hard Gay Easton Tcdn Kilpatrick E.H. Ebersviller Chink Rodgers Ervin Metzger The minutes of the prev3.ous regular me~tin.g of :arch were read. Motion was made by Ebersviller and seconded by Hard that the minutes be approved. Motion carried. Certain reports of the City of Laurel, were presEnted ~'or approval a~ follows: City Clerk's Gash Report and City Clerk's Tri~1. Balance for Dec. Jan. and Feb., and the City Treasurers Financial Statement for ~~~bruary. Motion was made by ~bersvill~r and seconded by Kilpatrick that these reports be approved. Motion carried. Police reports and Water Plant reports were presented for approval. Motion wag made by Kilpatrick and seconded by Metzger that these reports be approved. Lotion carried. Mayor read a letter from the Rapid City Mayor and also from a Mildred Roberts, chairman of the United Way, thanking the City of Laurel for an additions]. check of $67.57 to assist the .flood victims ih Western S.D. The Mayor appointed Tam Kilpatrick as United Nations Day Chairman. Mayor stated that Jim Corson from the Comrntxnity Action Program is re~i~ning. A letter wa.s read from the Western Montana Scientists' Committee for Public Tnfozmation concerning a solid waste management workshop at E.M.C. in Billings on Friday, March 2gth. Mayor suggested ghat someone should try to attend th~.s meeting if at all possible. Mayor reported that the recommended water and sewer rate increases have been sen-~ to the Public Service C~nm3.ssion. Mrs. Dione Smith appeared before the couz3.ci1 as a spokesman for the newly formed Girls Softball League. She informed the council that they will be wanting equal funding and scheduling for league this summer. This matter referred to the park co~nn?ittee. Judge Menello reported on the nPw dog catcher and stated that he is doing a good fob. A11en Bond, City-County Sanitarian, informed the council of a ~raste wat~sr meting to be hEld at the Security Federal Building on M~.rch 25th. The study would involve a look at the Yellowstone River and its tributaries, ground water and industry expansion for our area. It was su~gc~sted that Dewey RTunn ~.ttend this meeting. Hard asked for Riverside Hall on April 13th for a benefit dance. The proceeds will ~o to the Citizens for Good Government to support a class action suit a~ai.nst thQ County Corrunissioners concerning the proposed con~truc- tion of the multi-purpose building. There r~ai11 be no charge for the hall. Mayor reported that Dick Roach ~s ~aeen appointed to th.e Z~nin~ Bo~.rd. Daley stated that he would be sttending a convention on Mara~h 27th 28th and 29th of the American Muter Works and the Water Pollution Control Association. He urged the Mayor ~.nd ald.ermen to attend if at all possible. Br~.d.ley reported that he has notified the man that broke his propeller at our Airport that the City would not be responsible for faxing his planed The Mayor proclaimed the week of Sept. 23-29 as Herbstfest week. There being no further business to cane before the council at this time, motion was made Y~y Ebersviller and seconded by Hard that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried. Sharon L.
