STREET & ALLEY COMMITTEE
FEBRUARY 20, 1997 5:00 P.M.

Discussion on Richard Barnhardts concern with parking in front of
his business on West Main. He wants parallel parking only.
The Committee recommends city cleans boulevard to curb and install
signs. A sign will be put along the entire length to Hageman's
Elevator in early spring.
The Committee discussed Mr. Black's issue on W. 13th Street. The
City needs to send recent information collected through the review
of the special committee to the insurance company. Following
receipt of their response, city may consider annexation of 13th
Street.
The garbage rate for Laurel Ridge Motel was reviewed. Motion by
Bud Johnson, seconded by Bill Staudinger, to average their bill
with other motels and assess Laurel Ridge Motel's accordingly.
Motion carried.
Once a week pickup will begin this spring for Village Subdivision
and the south side. The council will receive copies of the
information packets being delivered to all residents in the area of
the planned once a week pickup. Packets will indicate the program
and how to use the new containers.
Discussion on the West School turn around. The Committee felt we
needed a meeting with the school to discuss any concerns of
maintenance or responsibilities. There have been some questions of
the city's responsibility on school property.
Jim will run a survey at 507 7th Avenue to determine what water
drainage problems we have in the street. The work will be done as
weather permits.
