STREET & ALLEY COMMITTEE
SEPTEMBER 18, 1997 5:30 P.M.
CITY HALL
PRESENT: Jim Flisrand Andy Loebe
Marvin Carter Bill Staudinger
Gay Easton John Oakes
Berry Linn
John Oakes from Village Subdivision presented his concerns about
gravel and steel plates that are in the gutters, garbage cans being
left at curb site all week and a concern with the sign that defines
the subdivision as Alder Ridge instead of village Subdivision, and
whether or not it is the city that enforces the above issues.
The gravel and plates have been a problem for city crews and the
gravel has been swept up by the street sweeper, but returns after
it has been swept.
Jim will check on the sign as per the letter from Mr. Tolliver.
Mr. Oakes stated that 254 lots are owned by 25 landowners, which
makes it mostly rentals and it is hard to get improvements or a
lighting district established.
Berry Linn gave an update of the recycling program at the High
School. The program has grown and there could be a every 2 week
pickup of the container. They also feel there may be a need of
another container to hold cardboard. The cost to the city for
containers and manpower was discussed and will be addressed after
the one-year trial period as agreed.
Jim Flisrand reported on the request from the Town Pump to place a
drive-through between Lucky Lil's and Town Pump. This would
involve the Italian ditch and some public right-of-way.
Andy Loebe reported on the bus routes and the poor corridor of some
of the side streets. Andy will take an inventory, then discuss
this with the school to make sure they use only designated streets
to complete their routes.
Jim will check with the county for placement of 25 mph signs on E.
8th from Alder to Cottonwood.
Handicapped parking on E. 8th Street on the south side of the
school and Thomson Park was reviewed. An on-site inspection will
be taken and referred back to the committee.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Gay Easton, Chairman
