Members present: M I N U T E S REVENUE SHARING/HANDICM MITTEE DATE December 4, 1985 TIME 4:30 pm PLACE OF MEETING City Hall Chairman Don Hackmann .Margit Thorndal I James Snively , B. Other's present: s r A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by the committee: On November 29th Don wrote a letter to Kent Harris, President of the Laurel Chamber of Commerce, requesting comments or recommendations for handicap parking in the business district. Alan Crowe had contacted the county and currently there are 2,043 handicap license plates in Yellowstone County. The DMV has no way of knowing how many are actually in Laurel, but they estimated about 10%. Don had checked with a few other cities regarding on-street handicap parking, and reported that Forsyth, Helena, Great Falls, and Glendfx?e has several. (Forsyth 1 per block.) In Glendive the churches have been using a temporary sign (portable) and it has been working very well. The committee still recommends that a handicap parking space be provided in front of City Hall, the City parking lot and one by the FAP Complex. Joe Bradley, City Attorney, will be preparing an ordinance. The committee further recommends that the churches be authorized to use a portable handicap parking sign on a voluntary basis. These signs will be put up and removed by the respective church as they deem necessary, usually during church hours. If they continue to have problems, then we could pass an ordinance to enforce it. Meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m. Respectfully submitted, IPOI? Donald L. Hackmann, Chairman A
