McCann reported on the water plant back wash pond. It has been cleaned cost at $3292.13. The pond had not been cleaned properly for a number of years. The only effort has been to use a backhoe and clean around the edges. This needs to be done on regular bases. We had to contact US WEST to get them to move a telephone data line that is strung over the pond at about the center. The line is in place with out easements. McCann will contact them to get the company to relocate the line around the pond. The pond also needs to be fenced for liability reasons. This will have to be budgeted to do this right will take several hundred feet of fencing. Discussion of the work at reservoirs. Savings in.other areas of the project should cover the cost over runs. If we need to use any of the contingency monies the Council will have to approve. Jeanette has received questions on what we are doing with the project. An article should appear in the outlook this month. The outlook was at the reservoirs this past week taking pictures. We also have to publish a water quality report that can include information about the project. Discussion on getting information to the public. We could use stuffers in our water bills. This would reach all citizens of Laurel. Lorraine Craig suggested that maybe the senior Citizens could help stuff envelopes. Jeanette indicated the cost of mailing water bills goes up when we add information with the billing. To get the information out we could do news releases to both the Outlook and the Billings Gazette. Discussion on using community service people. Phil Curry said the city was stopped some time back from using them with out supervision. We have an individual that McCann was going to assign gutter cleaning project. Lorraine Craig suggested we ask senior citizens to supervise these people. C'hai an No Orr
