Chief Mike Bloom feels and to some degree Capt.Crowe agrees , that none of the Laurel Police officers have the necessary administrative experience or training to fill the Captains position. They therefore recommend that the position be advertised and filled by someone from out of town. The committee feels that the only way for an o4ficer to acquire the experience and training is to work the job and therefore recommends that nZ supervisory position be filled , if at all possible from the ranks of the Laurel Police Department with due consideratio given to the advice and approval of the Chief. The Committee discussed complaints recieved concerning Lud Erlenbach's demeanor mainly while working at the city dump. As there have been no formal complaints , no formal disciplinary is recommended at this time however the Gommittee does recommend that he not be allowed to wear the uniform and badge while employed at the dump.. It was also brought out that under chapter 2.32.300 of the Laurel Municipal Code , city employees are to retire at age 65 and Mr. Erlenbach is now 67. Rsspectfully submitted ; ? '? ?" ?Chrmn.
