Members present: Chairman Chuck Dickerson Lon Kellogg Alan Crowe B. Other's present: Mike Atkinson , A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by the committee: Vehicles: It was expressed-by Chief Crowe that vehicles are our #1 problem. Car #3 has been down approximately three weeks for an engine overhaul. It will also be gone completely through. When the work is completed Captain Atkinson will be driving it to Bozeman for a break-in when he attends a training class there. Car #2 is due to be rebuilt. It now has 108,000 miles on it. Car #6 is not holding up the way it should. Has been having problems with electrical and cooling systems. Has 34,000 miles on it. Car #4 - no serious problems so far. 104,000 miles Car #1 It was felt this car was no longer functional. Would like to see it sold or possibly let the City use it. There were several ideas discussed regarding the vehicles which will be presented to the Council at a later date. Security : Chief Crowe discussed the possibilities of making some changes on the inside of the building which will utilize some wasted space and put it to better use. Those ideas and plans will be presented to the Council at a later date also. It was also recommended by the committee to re-issue a directive limiting unauthorized personnel in the dispatch area. Jail: C ity of Laurel could receive approximately $900.00 for the General Fund for the housing of County prisoners for 60-days. Mike Atkinson will be attending a school for one week on jail handling procedures. Illegal Parking: A discussion was held regarding the increase of illegal parking especially during snow removal and street sweeping hours. It was suggested the fine be raised to $25.00 for first time offenders and $50.00 and removal costs for the second time. Joe Bradley, City Attorney, will be contacted regarding this request.
