POLICE COMMITTEE

Mike Atkinson
A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by
the committee:
GVW, Charles Pratt - things we need to do:
1) City will have to adopt a set of codes similar to GVWs.
2) Get proper training:
a) registration, overweight, dimensions, etc.
b) feels 2 to 3 hrs needed,possibly less,for training
3) Check with City Attorney on codes
a) GVWs
b) driver's license and plates (none in City codes now)
Thru Traffic, Jim Flisrand:
After much discussion about stop signs on streets intersecting
8th Avenue, it was decided that the safety of kids st,ould be
cor,sidered(such as sidewalks before we increase thru traffic on
8th Avenue.
It t.:,as felt, however, that the City needs to rluoe stop signs
at the following locations:
4-way stop at 5th Avenue and 6th Street.
2-way stop at all avenues intersection 1st Street on
north and south sides of intersections from 1st Avenue
west to 8th Avenue
stop sign should also be placed on the northwest corner
of Juniper Avenue at 6th Street.
If needed, these recommendations can be turned back to the Street &
Alley Committee for more discussion.
Meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
Next meeting on March 7th at 5:30 at Safety Complex.
