POLICE COMMITTEE

A quorum (3 or more) present, the following action was taken
by the Committee:
Chief Crowe reported that the Law Enforcement in Butte has
a few problems with the 24 hour gambling. Butte has live poker,
and video games and the Police are locked out after 2 a.m. The
24 hour gambling is allowed at eating places only.
Missoula has some problems after 2 a.m., mainly with college
students. The bar areas are locked or sealed off from gambling
after 2 a.m.
Bozeman has live card games only after 2 a.m. They have few
problems.
Kalispell has no gambling after 2 a.m.
John Mohr, Attorney, made contact with the City Attorney's
from each of the above cities. Each claimed that they have few
problems, if any.' Most stated that no additional help has been
needed.
Curt Rieman asked the Committee to consider an Ordinance
for 24 hour gambling on a 2 year probation period with spot
checks approximately every 60 to 90 days, with Police having
the right to walk in anytime. They would also lock up or seal
off the bar after 2 a.m. Any violations would mean closure.
The Committee reviewed the remodeling bid from Cherry
Construction.
Alan informed the Committee that Officer Rosenberg will
be off duty a few weeks to recover from an illness.
The meeting was adjourned at.7:00 p.m.
