Mike Atkinson informed the committee that the bid for the
Montana Highway Patrol cars would be up in two days. He stated
that we could get a new patrol car for $18,937, through Bozeman
Ford. Motion by Albert Ehrlick, seconded by Bill Brennan, to
have Mike order a new patrol car. Motion carried.
Mike said that he is still having trouble getting ahold
of someone from the Department of Justice for information
concerning the impending purchase of the new computer system.
He will keep trying.
Mike informed the committee that he had just spent $730
for citation forms that should last the department for two years.
However, with the enactment of new state laws these forms will
be obsolete, and he will have to reorder the proper ones. he
stated that no agency was given advance warning. Larry Herman
found out about this at a school in Missoula.
Connie Lind, Animal Control Officer, is now working the
southside starting at South 8th Street and working east towards
the interstate, marking cars. When she has completed this she
will start over again as part of a on-going program to enforce
city ordinances.
Mike reported that he had just returned from a school in
Bozeman, where the topics of discussion were the use of force
and liability in high speed chase situations.
Mike Zuhoski, said as a result of a meeting with
dispatchers, they would like to return to wearing jeans, which
now currently is against rules in the current dispatch policy
manual. Discussion followed. Motion by Dan Lowell, seconded
by Albert Ehrlick, to let dispatchers wear jeans as long as
they are neat and presentable% Motion carried. This will require
Council approval.
