POLICE COMMITTEE MEETING
FAP COMPLEX
APRIL 4, 1996
4:30 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Ron Marshall, chairman Gay Easton
Mike Atkinson Dave Slaymaker
Rick Musson
committee met to discuss purchase of computer for the police
department. Mike reported that our current computer is down
and that we have to take immediate action. After discussion
motion by Mike Atkinson, seconded by Gay Easton that we purchase
a software package from Swift Systems of Butte, Mt., and take
bids from Entre Computers, Computerland, and Ina communications
for a hardware package. Motion carried. Mike will call for
another meeting next week.
Discussion of a letter (see attached) received from the
Laurel Community Against Violence Task Force. Mike reported
that they are just organizing and will provide assistance to
abused victims of domestic violence. Rick Musson will be the
liaison officer.
Meeting adjourned at 4:55 P.M.

In the last year violence has been an integral part of our community
In an attempt to respond to the growing need for intervention, the Laurel Community Against
Violence Task Force is being formed.
The task force will taring together a group of individuals who are ready to take a stand against
violence in c.ur town. Our goal will be to create a community model. That is, a coordinated
community r,a39onse Mich wit provide the system necessary so that no aspect of violence is left
without some form of intervention.
The first task foorce meeting 41 take plar...e on tvloriday, April 8, 1996 from 74 p.m.. At this
meeting the proposal for the community model will be presented. Those included in the proposal
are the Laurel Police Department, Laurel Clinic, Liurel Public School System, L?Rurei Community
Hqy -,. +f local churches and all concerned citizens. We 01 meet upstairs in the hospitality rucm
of Se-Gurity Bank, located at 19 Montana.
A regular meeting time and place wiq also be discuss e1 and decided on at the meeting. It voi9 be
pr;op?wsed that the task force meet one night a month for two hours..
I am encouraging you to attend the meeting for your valued input. The success of the task force
is limited only to our imaginations.
