POLICE COMMITTEE
APRIL 3, 1997 7:30 P.M.
F.A.P. COMPLEX
PRESENT: Dirk Kroll Bill Staudinger
Norman Orr Rick Musson
Bill Brennan
The committee discussed the extra mobile phone from last month's
meeting to decide if the department needed it or not. Captain
Musson asked for additional time to get more input from the
patrolmen. The committee decided to delay the decision until the
next meeting.
The committee discussed the discontinuation of patrolmen helping to
unlock car doors. One of the issues brought up was the City's
liability when a patrolman is attempting to gain access into the
car. Assistance through the department could still be gained by
the dispatcher calling a locksmith or a towing company.
Motion by Bill Staudinger, seconded by Norman Orr, that in
case of extreme emergencies only will patrolmen unlock car doors.
Motion carried.
Also brought before the committee for discussion was the department
activity report for the period of March 18, 1997 to April 1, 1997,
and the Police Reserves new policy manual.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
The next scheduled meeting will be May 1, 1997 at 7:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Dirk Kroll, Chairman
