Police Committee
June 1, 1998 5:30 p.m.
City Hall
Attending: Bill Brennan, Gay Easton, Bill Staudinger,
Dirk Kroll, Norman Orr, Atari Hovious, Bill Teeters, .
David Teeters
David and Bill Teeters brought before the committee a
complaint about the department. Alan received a written copy of
complaint and will look into this further.
The committee looked over three policy changes that were
brought to us last meeting by the Chief. These resolutions are:
l.) Permit for discharge of handguns, rifles, or cannon with
blank ammunition or black powder, 2.) Permit for parades on
public roads in city limits, and 3.) Increase fees for police.
reports, video and audio reports, and fingerprinting services.
Discussion on permit fees and liability issues of black powder
use. Bill Staudin er moved Gay Easton seconded to approve
the three resolutions and to recommend approval to the City
Council. Motion passed.
Other issues also discussed were a complaint about loose
dogs on the South side, a unused building in Thomson Park that
could be used for the Police reserves, hiring a new part-time
dispatcher, security issues for City Hall and Court, and working
on getting Enhanced 911 started.
The meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
