Police Committee
City Council Chambers
7:30 p.m. January 7, 1999
Attending: Dirk Kroll, Norman Orr, Smokey Staudinger,
Chief Rick Musson, Sergeant Mike Zuhoski, Bill Brennan
Others: Ken Olson, Charlie Pratt
Smokey brought before the committee problems with
abandoned vehicles on the streets. Discussion followed about
the recurring problem and about RV" parking during the spring
and fall of each year. A committee was formed to look at these
problems and to make suggestions on how to correct or change
the ordinances that affect this.
Ken Olson brought before the committee information on
what the joint Drug Task Force has been doing. One of the
issues they have been working on'is a resource book for people
who do not know what to do and need questions answered.
Chief Musson told the committee that he would like to send
Officers Weinreis and Hatten to the academy at the same time to
finish their training there at the same time. Discussion followed
about coverage of shifts and overtime. Smokey moved, Norman
seconded to approve sending Officers Weinreis and Hatten to
the academy at the same time with the approval of the Mayor.
Motion passed.
A new shift system, drug books for the elementary schools,
the Adopt--a-cop program, maintenance of the interview room, a
master plan for the department, and leasing instead of buying
police cars was also discussed.
The meeting was adjourned at 9 p.m.
