HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark Committee Minutes 02.27.1997Park Committee February 27, 1997 Attending: Bill Brennan, Gay Easton, Bil Staudinger, Andy Loebe,'Jim Flisrand, Donna Kilpatrick Others: Dan McGrath and Mark Mace, Little League, Joe Meyer, Pat Kimmet, Dodgers Baseball; Carl Hollabaugh, Riverside Park Representatives of the Laurel Baseball Organization--Laurel Little League and the Dodgers Baseball team--attended the meeting to inform the committee of summer plans for improvements at the fields in Thomson Park. The group will return to the March 13 meeting of the committee with more detailed plans of the improvements. Plans will be presented to Jim for his review prior to the park committee meeting. Game at schedules will also be given to the committee when they are finalized. The Good Sam Gallivanters are planned a state convention of their group in Riverside Park the last weekend in September. Approximately 200 rigs are expected. Bill moved, Gay seconded that we charge each rig $5.00 per day for parking in the park for the weekend. motion carried. Regular fees are $15.00 per day for the use of hook-ups and $7.50 per day for "dry camping" under which most of the Good Sam rigs will be classified and the facilities in the park will not be used. Advertisements will be placed in the newspaper for hiring at the swimming pool. Other areas of discussion included dogs in the parks, parking near the high school on East Eight St.; and progress on the South Pond project. No action was taken on these matters but further study will be made. Members of the Laurel Chamber of Commerce will be invited to the March 27 meeting of the park committee to update the committee on plans for the log cabin restoration/addition, etc. The Laurel Baseball Organization group will be at the March 13 meeting with detailed plans of improvements at the fields in Thomson Park.
