A request was received from the Laurel Baptist Church to use the
swimming pool on Aug. 15 after hours from S p.m. to about 9:30 p.m.. In the past
we have only charged the group the salary for the lifeguards. Jim will check with
Joe Leckie, city attorney, to see if it is allowed by our insurance.
Following the last meeting of the park committee, the committee met
with Greg Thomas, a representative of the Laurel Little League, concerning the
placement of a shed to house mowing equipment etc. The committee decided that
best location would be just north of the existing batting cage off East Eighth St.
near the double-gate entry into Athletic Field. Enough room is available there and
would allow for perhaps the easiest access to the building for the equipment.
Jim reported on problems existing at the swimming pool with the
admission tickets/cash. He is working with the manager, assistant manager and
head lifeguard to be the only ones to handle the cash. They alone will be responsible
for any shortage,etc.
