HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark Committee Minutes 03.26.1998MINUTES PARKS COMMITTEE March 26, 1998 5:00 p.m. Council Chambers MEMBERS PRESENT: Ken Olson Larry McCann Bill Staudinger Bill Brennan Andy Loebe Gay Easton OTHERS PRESENT: Jim Eastman Terry Casey Larry McCann reported that students from the High School Civics Class want to clean up Russell Park for a project. Larry said he would coordinate it. Students James Easton and Aaron Harris are the student contacts. Larry would like some direction on the primary color used at Riverside park for the buildings. He stated the color of the Horsehoe Building would work well. After a discussion a motion was made by Gay Easton, second by Bill Staudinger, to make that the primary color. Motion carried. Andy Loebe reported that the park side of the boat ramp on the west side has become a mud hole and he has a plan to take of it. Bill Staudinger reported on Bright and Beautiful. Donna Kilpatrick will have a meeting at 1:30 a.m. on March 30, 1998. Andy Loebe wanted to discuss the amount of barricades that are needed for Aviation Week. Gay reported that a county employee would help out with county barricades and gave Andy the name of the individual to contact. Andy wanted to discuss budget items for the parks. He states that the committee needed to start getting these items together for consideration by the Budget/Finance committee. A motion was made by Ball Staudinger, second by Bill Brennan to extend the leases for 3 more months at Riverside Park. Motion carried. Terry Casey requested use of the county park on W. 9th for her horses. The committee told her they would look into the matter and get back to her. Y A request was made by the Boys and Girls Club to use Riverside Park for the Peaks to Prairies race on April 26, 1998 with a rain out day of May 10, 1998. They are the sponsors for the second year. A motion was made by Gay Easton, second by Bill Staudinger to approve the request. Motion carried. A letter was sent to the acting director of the Boys and Girls Club with the approval of the request. Respectfully submitted, Ken Olson, Chairman
