HomeMy WebLinkAboutLocal Government Review Minutes (25)LAUREL GOVERNMENT REVIEW COMMISS1014 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF MARCH 25, 1996 The regular meeting of the Laurel Government Review Commission was called to order at 7:00 o'clock p.m. on Monday, March 25, 1996, in the Council Chambers at Laurel City Hall. Present were Steven K. Cosner, Chairman, and Joseph M. Bradley, vice-Chairman. The Chairman presented the minutes of the previous meeting of March 11, 1996. The same were unanimously approved upon motion by Bradley. The Chairman next presented the following correspondence: Yellowstone County Government Review Commission minutes of March 7, March 14, and March 21, 1996; Yellowstone County Government Review Commission agendas for meetings of March 14, March 21, and March 27, 1996; Billings Local Government Review Commission minutes of February 26, March 7, and March 14, 1996; Billings Local. Government Review Commission agendas for meetings of March 14, March 21, and March 27, 1996; Billing. Local Gover_n;:lenL - R(,vi ew Commission Preliminary Report (one page - undated) ; Copy of Billings Local Government Review Commission news release for public hearing to be held oil March 20, 1996; Copy of proposed amendments to the City of Billings charter (one page - undated). The Chairman next presented a copy of the Commission's budget for the current year, dated February 29, 1996. The budget 1 R` LAUR-' GOVFRMNMNT REVIEW COMMISSION MINTUTES OF 3/25/96 PAGE ':4o shows that the Commission has expended a total of $381 out of the total budgeted amount of $3,500.00. The Chairman reported on his attendance at the public hearing held by the Billings Government Review Commission on March 20, 1996. He said approximately 15 people attended the hearing, including some current Billings aldermen. The aldermen generally spoke against any expansion of the mayor's powers or any lengthening of the mayor's term of office. Bradley reported that he had contacted the Local Government Center in Bozeman to inquire about their work on our charter. Judy of that office told him that she would be working on our tentative draft this week, and that she hoped to give us a response this week. The Chairman then presented four proposed certificates as required by statute, prepared by the Local Government Center pursuant to our contract with them. Discussion of the proposed certificates was postponed until a future meeting. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 o'clock p.m. Respectfully submit-t:ed, Steven K.
