COUNCIL CHAMBERS
JULY 15, 1996
7:00 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Steve Cosner, chairman Ken Olson
Ron Marshall
Motion by Steve Cosner, seconded by Ken Olson, to approve
the minutes of the July 8, 1996 meeting. Motion carried.
Correspondence. Received the proposed charter for
Yellowstone County from the Yellowstone County Local
Governmental Review Commission. Received the minutes from the
June 27, 1996, meeting of the Yellowstone County Local
Governmental. Review Commission.
Motion by Ken Olson, seconded by Steve Cosner, to accept
proposed charter prepared by the Local Government Center in
Bozeman. Motion to amend, by Ken Olson, seconded by Steve
Cosner, to amend Section 5.02 to eliminate word "CHIEF" from
sentence stating that the treasurer is the chief financial
officer of the city. Motion carried. Motion to accept proposed
charter carried.
Discussion held concerning public hearings to be held July
29, 1996, and August 5, 1996. Ron Marshall said he would give
copies of the proposed charter to the city council at it's
meeting on July 16. Steve Cosner will place an ad in the Laurel
Outlook advertising the public hearings.
The Local Government Center in Bozeman will be contacted
telling them that their final language has been accepted.
Discussion of supplemental report. It has been the
consensus of the necessity of the 2 mill levy given to the
Airport Authority. The City Council will have one year to report
back to the Local Governmental Review Commission with their
findings.
