R19-38 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ADOPTING THE YELLOWSTONE COUNTY MULTI -HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN 2019 UPDATE ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA. WHEREAS, in October of 2000 the President of the United States signed into law the "Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000" (PL 106-390) to amend the "Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Act of 1988" which among other provisions requires local governments to adopt a Multi -Hazard Mitigation Plan in order to be eligible for hazard mitigation funding; WHEREAS, the City of Laurel, Montana has worked closely with Yellowstone County Disaster and Emergency Services to update a county -wide Multi -Hazard Mitigation Plan that will serve the needs of Yellowstone County; WHEREAS, the Yellowstone County Disaster and Emergency Services (YCDES) Coordinator is also the City of Laurel DES Coordinator; and WHEREAS, the City of Laurel supports the 2019 Update to the Yellowstone County Multi - Hazard Mitigation Plan as a logical means toward protecting people and property from the potential devastating effects of natural and man-made hazards. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council for the City of Laurel hereby adopts the "Yellowstone County, Montana Multi -Hazard Mitigation Plan – 2019 Update" as approved by the Montana Disaster and Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. PASSED and APPROVED by the City of Laurel this 6t" day of August 2019.
