HomeMy WebLinkAboutLaurel Airport Authority Minutes 05.24.1983AIRPORT AUTHORITY COMMITTEE MEETING May 24, 1983 Meeting call to order by Chairman John Smith at 7:05 PM at the council chambers at Laurel City Hall. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Motion was to approve the minutes by Guy Stormont and seconded by Herb Olson. Motion passed. Chairman Smith asked for permission to borrower $10,000 from the State of Montana., money to used airport construction. Dave Powers made the motion we approve the borrowing of the money from the State of Montana. Seconded by Guy Stormont. Motion passed. Chairman Smith presented and reviewed the budget for 1983 and 1984. The total budget for the coming year is $260,214. This had been read and approved at a previous meet- ing. Chairman also reported that the City.-Crew will repair the North South Runway sometime in July 1983. Tom Elliott requested permission to hold a garage sale at his hanger at the airport. He stated all merchandise would be related to aircraft only. After a lengthy dis- cussion about holding garage sales at the airport, which included input from visitors attending as well as the committee members, Dave Powers moved we approve the holding of a garage sale only if junk sold was related to aircraft only. Seconded by Claude Cory. Motion passed. Chairman Smith next reported on a silver Luscombe aircraft had.a accident May 23, 1983 at 7:15 PM. The plane flipped over onto it back. The accident occurred as the plane was leaving the runway. This lead to discussion about the reporting of accidents involving aircraft that have accidents at the airport. After a discussion between the visitors and the committee, it is stated that the Laurel City Police must notified and the FAA.must notified as soon as possible. The tied down payments and finding out who owns the aircraft using the tie down space is still a problem at the airport. Nothing new accomplished or nes ideaseas how to correct this problem. Herb agreed to print a set of rules and regulation for the airport committee for the Ultra Light Aircraft that use the airport.
