Gary Temple Bud Johnson
Paul Strom, CPA
Paul Strom explained why the Firemen's Relief Association is
considered to be a component unit of the City.
Even though it is not a primary government agency, it is a separate
legal entity. It is financially dependent on the City for its
revenue, because the City levies a tax to support the Firemen's
Pension Fund. The volunteer firemen provide a service to the City.
The Montana Department of Commerce has determined that the
Firemen's Relief Association is a component unit of the City and
should be included with the City's financial statement and to be
reported in the annual audit report.
Discussion regarding the annual report that is sent to the state
insurance commissioners. A copy could be sent to the City Clerk to
keep on file and make available to the auditor for his annual audit
report.
Motion by Gary Temple, seconded by Bud Johnson, to request
that a copy of the annual Firemen's Relief Association report,
which is sent to the state insurance commissioner, be forwarded to
the City Clerk each year. Motion carried.
