Chambers at the Laurel City Hall. All committee members were present.
Visitors attending the meeting wererRichard Heriem, Mary McKamy, Terry
Fatzinger, Bob Redding, Allen Bently, Bill Milligan, from Ultra Lites and
Larry Wyman from HKM Engineering firm.
Minutes of the September 259 meeting were read and approved as read.
Mr. Milligan reported on the landing patterns and takeoff they would lake
to use for the Ultra Lites at the Laurel Airport. This would be for the
single seat aircraft. The two seater would have to use the regular runways
as they are considered regular aircraft and have to have a licensed pilot to
fly them. The single seat Ultra Lite would then use the east west taxi strip
for their landings and takeoffs. Herb made a motion that the ultra lites be
permitted to operate on the east 800 feet of taxiway for takeoffs and landings.
Takeoffs to the west would make a left turn to leave the traffic pattern when
they reach a altitude of 300 feet before reaching runway 31, and taking off to
the east use right hand traffic pattern before they reach the end of runway 21.
Landing to the west make a left turn on to final approach and landing east right
hand turn onto final approach to landing. Maximum pattern altitude is to be
300 feet. Dave Powers seconded the motion. Motion passed without desenting vote.
Glen Stotts, former FBO operator out of Great Falls just moved into the area and
would like to put a double wide mobile home at the Laurel Airport and live there.
For use of the land at the airport he would act as a security guard at the air-
port occasional help out the local FBO. Herb suggest we table the request and
hold a special meeting with Glen and work out an arrangement to move a mobile
home onto the airport property.
Larry Wyman reported on the grades at the airport. Bob Redding went to build
a hanger and their was a difference of 15 inches diagonally accross the hanger
site. Wyman will take a level and check the elevation of the hanger site. Bob
thinks he should not have to level the site at all.
Stormy reported that a Brown Bradshaw had contacted him about building a building
150' x 150' to build aircraft and also aircraft storage. He will let us know
if this develops any further.
