Meeting was called to order by Chairman Smith at 7:05 PM. Present were John
Smith, Dave Powers, Guy Stormont and Claude Cory. Herb Olson was absent.
Visitor attending the meeting were Roberta Karp, Dale Edwards, Richard Hereim, Terry
Fatzinger, Mary McKawy, Stephens Romines, Bob Redding, Bill Milligan, Ultra Lites,
Mel Tiensvold and Rich Sanford airport fix base operator.
Bill Milligan reported on a pattern they would like fly out of the airport. They
will use the east taxi way for takeoffs and landings. It was amended to Single
place Ultra lites would use the taxi way for takeoffs and landings and two place
ultra lites craft would use the runways. If a high wind came up during the time
they were in the air they would be allowed.to land on the runway for safety.
Milligan explained they have five licensed ultra lite pilots using the airport.
He also explained that a person has to have a minimim of 10 hours dual time with
a licensed pilot before he could fly a tutra lite solo. Stormont asked Milligan
to explain a experimently ultra lite craft. Milligan explain that in order to
fly a two place ultra lite craft you either had to be a licensed pilot or have
a valid student license.
Chairman Smith reported on the snowplow Herb Olson purchased from the State of
Montana. He purchased this equipment for the Laurel Airport for $2,500.00. This
equipment is now is service at the Laurel Airport.

RichgSanford gave short report on his operation. He asked the authority for per-
mission to have the south of runway 31 swept of the small gravel on the end of
the runway. He also state that there was a light out a the airport beacon. Dr.
Smith stated they were in the process of repairing the light.
Rich Sanford asked for permission to have a open house October 14, 1984. Stormont
moved we grant permission for Rich to hold a open house at the airport; seconded
by Dave Powers. Motion passed.
Dale Edwards asked for permission to build a hanger near the parking ramp and he
would like to started a fixed base operation at the Laurel Airport. Smith asked
Stormont to review the site Mr. Edwards would like and Bob Redding was asked to
fix the corners of the building site. No further action was taken on this request.
A lengthy discussion took place about-the price of 10 cent6Per square foot as
rent for land from the Airport Authority. Most present stated that the land rent
or site rent was too high compared to other airports in the vicinity of Laurel.
The discussion became a little heated about the site rent we charged. Bob Redding
commented he felt we should work in harmony more than we have in the past and that
we should cooperate more with each other. This would bring more revenue and the
airport would prosper more.
At this time the authority didnot see fit to change the rent structure.
No further business to come before the meeting adjourned at 9:OOPM.'
