BOX 10 PHONE: 628-8791 LAUREL AIRPORT AUTHORITY DEPARTMENT Meeting was called to order December 22, 1987 at 7:OOPM by Chairman Smith. Members present were Bill Brennan, Dave Powers and Mary McKamy. The minutes were read and two corrections reguarding money were made. Dave Powers made motion to accept the minutes as corrected, seconded by Bill Brennan the motion approved. HKM estimated they are fifty one percent (51%) completed. The runway lights aren't function propertjy again. A transform may be the cause. a call to the factory may be necessary. Construction is completed for this fall. Work will resume about April 4, 1988 and should be done by Aprill 22, 1988, weather premitting; The commission looked into the planting airport to alfalfa. The FAA frowned;.upon the planting of alfalfa because it would drow deer, birds and other wild animals to the area for feed. Two companies were contacted for an appraisal fo the land and air space over provate land for landing and take off approach to the land strips. One appraisal company wanted $2,500.00 and the other bid was $1,500.00. Susan Alexander said to send the forms to DuBray which was the low bid. He will have thirty days (30 days) to complete the appraisal. George Reiter wanted $10,000.00 for easement over the 12.08 acres he f amps . Rich Sanford's lease was discussed. (1) twenty percent (209) wouid raise his lease t•i Fi'_'ternForty and 80/100 dollars ($1,540.80) per year. (2) Three cents (.03) on all land except building site which wold be ten cents (.10) and would equal Fifteen hundred forty and 51/100 ($1,599.51) and (3) three cents on all support land, four cents (.04) on ramp and ten cents (.10) for the land on which the building sets and would equal Eighteen hundred eighty two and 11/00 dollars (%1,882.11) for one year. (4) three cents (.03) on support land, foru cents (.04) on ramp and gas p umps then cents (.10) on land building the building sets on would equal Ninteen hundred eight and 36/100 dollars. Bill Brennan made a motion to go With the proposed three cents (.03) on ramp area and land area and support land and ten cents (.10) on building lot, but would able to renegotiate the lease at the end of three years. The total lease for the first three years would total Fifteen Hundred Ninty Nine and 51/100 ($1,599.51) per annum. Dave Powers seconded the motion. Di_• Smith gave a run down of projects since 1959. There have been $1,030,000 worth of improvements made sind 1959. S It was also discussed that wer write a letter to the fire chief requesting an inspection on all buildings at the airport. We were particularly wondering about soild burning stoves.
