HomeMy WebLinkAboutLaurel Airport Authority Minutes 04.24.1990LAUREL AIRPORT AUTHORITY BOX 10 LAUREL, MONTANA 59044 April 24,, 1990 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Join Smith at 7:10 p.m. Members present were Dave Powers and Mary Kasner. Bill Brennan and Roy Zahm were absent. Others in attendance: were Terry Fatzingert Frank Felker Bob Feisthamel, Tom Kern! Don Woerner, Allen Yelson, Mark Murray, Jeff Schlabs. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approvef by a motion by Dave Fowers and a secolid by John Smith. We. had no response from the ad run in the Gazette for the trailer space at the airport. The total budget of $93,920 was discussed. A motion to approve the budget was made by Dave Powers and seconded by Mary Kasner. A motion to pay the fire protection item of $220.00 was made by Dave Powers and seconded by Nary Kasner. After a lengthy discussion about the Jump area at the airport the following motion was made by Dave Powers and seconded by Mary Kasner. "I move that the attached parachute Landing Zone will be adopted by the Laurel Airport Authority. Each solo Jumper will be required to have liability insurance through the YSPA. All spectators must remain outside the active airport at all times.- A pea gravel pit will be constructed where the B is located on the attached map. It will be 30' x 30' x 1' deep. The Jumpers will also mow and water the airport park and use only the gate to enter the airport area." Frank Felke asked to build a 50'x 60' building north of Redding's hangar with a door opening to the east. It would meet all airport specif-i ications. A motion was made by Dave Powers and seconded by Mary Kasner to give Frank Felke first option to build north of Redding's hangar. He will have 60 days to make a firm commitment. The following bills were presented for payment. Yellowstone Valley Electric 78.30 Laurel Our Own Hardware (floodlights) 6.98 (misc.) 20.47 Laurel Servicenter (gas oil) 21.40 Lloyd Torgerson (194 Ford Tractor) 2100.00 Billings Gazette (trailer ad) 23.25 Dave Fowers moved to pay the bil:W and -VX. NWIMPt seconded it. Don Woerner requested that Yike Visser be asked to move the wreckage of a spray plane from beside his hangar. He also asked that no four--wheelers be allowed on the airport. Roger Hart has agreed to mow and bail the hay around the airport. He is to keep all equipment and bails away from the active runways and taxiways. The meeting was ad3 rued at 8:40 p.m. Chairman Secretary John Hawley Sm t Mary Kasner PARACHUTE LANDING ZONES FOR LAUREL AIRPORT Experienced skydivers and students in control of a parachute ` are allowed to make A parachute landing at the Laurel Airport if: 1.1 They possess a current liability insurance supplied through membership in the USPA (United States Parachute Assoc.) or CSPA (Canadian Sport Parachute Assoc.). Tandem students are exempt. 1.2 They are familiar with their designated landing area shown below. Parachute landing zones (LZ) are designated - Area A,B or C followed by the parachuting license or experience requirements: 2.1 Area A - Primary LZ for beginners,novice skydivers with less than 45 jumps. 2.2 Area B - Primary LZ for licensed skydivers with more than 45 jumps (this area is an alternate for students if crosswind conditions exists). 2.3 Area C - Reserved for D-License holders only (NO EXCEPTIONS). Intentional parachute landings are PROHIBITED at the listed areas below: 3.1 Runway,taxiway, and tie-down area. 3.2 Parking lots, packing area, all areas near buildings.
