David Stalling ,F.A.A. Community planner ( out of Helena) explained new design criteria adopted by the F.A.A. and stated that the F.A.A. is quite anxious to update and improve the Laurel Airport as it is the busiest General Aviation Airport in the state. Our present problems are ; Line of sight between runway 3/21 and runway 13131 is inadequate. Parking ramp is too high. Taxiway centerline to runway centerline should be 240 feet.It is now only 1871 feet. Why did H.K.M. design it this way so recently 7 No roads or fences are allowable in the "Clear Zone".Under our latest proposed design this would necessitate closing Laurel Airport Road, whieh might prove impossible. We may have to relocate the proposed runway north and east which would require more land acquiation. The PmeH.Ae holds a lien on the Reiter property east of the Airport and refuses to the negotiated Aviaation space agreement.Contact Joe Bradley and find out why he missed this. The F.A.A. recommends that we have a new Airport study done as the last one was done in 1980.They will pay 90 % of the cost of both the study and any construction. The study was estimated to cost $30,000 to $35,000. Constructio of a 5,000' by 75' runway is estimated to cost $190009000 to $1,500,000. A motion was made by Brennan ,Seconded by Western to advertise for a consultant firm to do the study.D9otion passed. We made it clear to Mr.Stelling that we don't have 10% of the cost of construction and the Montana Aeronautical Division is broke. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
