Chairman Smith reported that he has talked to two parties interested in building
hangars in the "new hangar" area.He also stated that there appeared to be some
confusion about building in the "new"area. ?
Bob Redding stated that the 1980 Master plan showed another tie down ramp at the
East end of the Airport and proposed that we build it.Following much discussion
Kent Potter , of Northern Skies Aviation , stated that he had invested a lot of
money in his fueling facility on the existing ramp and doesn't intend to rove it
to a new ramp. There are presently 30 to 35 tie down spots unused on the existing
ramp and he questioned the need for more.
Acopy of a part of the new ?Master Plan was passed around.Bob Redding said he would
get some copies made and distribute them.
Frank Wagner questioned why Weber ':acine and Welding was denied permission to
construct and operate a machine shop in the "new hangar"area.Chairman Smith explained
that any non-aircrafted business could not operate there as this area was developed
because of the supposed need for more hangar construction.Jim Roberts crew chief
at Big Sky Aircraft, asked why such a business could not be established in the area
North of Big Sky Aircraft since it has no runway access and therefore impractical-
for hangar construction.Chairman explained that commercial development of that nature
is being considered on the "new"Master plan.
It was suggested that a new tie down ramp be constructed on the West end of the
Airport either as an extension or a replacement of the existing ramp. This also will
be addressed on the "new"Master Plan.
Cost estimates for filling the coulee for a Westward extension of Runway 4/22 will
be forthcoming from H.K.M.

It was asked if an organization were to contribute funds would the Airport
Authority build a pilots lounge at the East end of the Airport, ??
A complaint was made that contractors were parkingthier vehicles too close to the
taxiway in the hangar area malting it impossible to taxi an aircraft by them. They
were talked to and have mended thier ways.Bob Western said that parking vehicles
in the hangar areas will be addressed in the updated Airport Operating manual ,
which ,when approved will be distributed to all Airport users.
It was suggested that an identification card be issued to Airport users to restrict
vehicles on the Airport. This unfortunately would be difficult to implement and
almost impossible to enforce without full time security personnel.Security at the
Airport continues to be an important concern of the Authority.
Concerns about operation of "ultra light"aicraft and gyrocopter operations in
nonconforming patterns and at nonconforming pattern altitudes were expressed.
Kent Potter and Frank Wagner will work together to establish a program to educate
local airmen with the rules and procedures regarding safe and legal operation of all
aircraft.
The Unicom radio has been repaired once again and is in service.
Meeting adjourned at 8:05 P.M.
