A quorum (3 or more) present, the following action was taken by
the Committee:
Comments from the audience: requesting a better scheduling of
the parking officer for the 4 hour City lot. Also, the parking
officer is a luxury the City cannot afford.
Mike Penny says that they need space for the bowlers from the
Palace Lanes as they are parking in front of Laurel Auto Parts.
Laurie ParPart said that the apartment dwellers are parking in
the streets. The city needs to put in a 6-8 hour parking lot for
just the business people.
Gail Collins would like to see 2 hour parking in front of her
place of business instead of 3 hour parking.
Donna Kilpatrick said that some of her matinee customers received
parking tickets at a recent matinee. She says that the rest of
the shows playing this summer will not run as long.
Larry Thomas said that the dwelling and business people need add-
itional parking. He suggest the east side of Firemen's Park.
Velda Thomas said that the parking officer gave her a ticket in
her store after she had moved her vehicle.
Darrell McGillen suggests that the City do away with regulations in
the City lot. The parking officer needs to work more and do it
with a steady motion. Do away with the 2 hr. parking and give
courtesy tickets. He also questioned the reason for giving out
$25.00 tickets for obstructing traffic on the 4th of July.
General comments were for parking meters, painting parking spots
on streets, putting in a parking lot at east end of Firemen's Park,
and creating a parking fund. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
