GARBAGE COMMITTEE
MARCH 20, 1995 5:00 P.M.

The committee reviewed the landfill status. On February 23, 1995
the City of Laurel received a letter from the State Solid Waste
Division indicating that we could proceed with a study to determine
that the existing water, bearing zone is not an aquifer and in fact
doesn't effect the uppermost aquifer.
The City received a phone call from Mr. Bob Robinson, Director of
Department of Health and Environmental Sciences on Monday, February
28, 1995 indicating the City should ignore the February 23rd letter
until he talks with the Solid Waste Division.
Mr. Robinson contacted the City of Laurel on Monday, March 22, 1995
indicating the city could proceed with our study to prove ground
water monitoring was not necessary. He felt the City's direction
was justified and we now needed to complete the fact finding
process.
Motion by Albert Ehrlick, seconded by John Minch, that we
approve Chen Northern/Huntingdon task 3 proposal as identified in
their February 28, 1995 letter. Motion carried.
Task 3 will complete the fact finding process for the State Solid
Waste Division and encourage their approval of our position of no
migration status. Which will relieve the requirement of a thirty
year ground monitoring program. Task 3 is estimated not to exceed
$6,100.00.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
