A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by
the committee:
Items of discussion were revenue, fire districts, fire service
areas, and boundary lines.
The Fire Department is operating on a budget of $71,000.00.
About $52,000.00 will be generated from contracts with Fire
Districts 5, 7, and 8, to the City of Laurel for this fiscal
year.
It was recommended that the Fire Committee ask the Budget
Committee to set aside for a capital replacement fund.
The money from the fire districts would then be used to help
defray the cost of a new truck, and or new equipment.
The Volunteer Fire Department recommemds to the Fire Committee
and the City Council that our department form a fire service area
beyond our present district boundaries. The department would
go north to 8-Mile Bridge, east on Lipp Road to 88th Street, south
to King Avenue, then east to 72nd Street West, south to Danford
Drive, east to 56th Street West, south to Rudio Road, south across
Duck Creek Bridge to Metzger Road, west toBrah.augh Road, connect
with the existing district line, west of Laurel to Stillwater Line,
north on Buffalo Trail Road to Clapper Flat Road 1 mile, then
south to existing district line, then west to Stillwater County
Line.
A meeting to be set with Fire Districts 5, 7, and 8 on Feb-
ruary 29th at 7:00 p.m. at the Fire Hall to start negotiation
of new contracts.
Meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
