The meeting opened at 7:00 p.m.
Discussion of contracts with fire districts 5,7, 8 for year of 1988
1989.
Fire District 8 fee's will be about $ 2,140.00.
Fire District 5 fee's will be about $ 4,049.00 -
Fire District 7 fee's are in question at this time (railroad is
protesting taxes). District 7 needs to find out if fire service
contract can be freed from protest.
Discussion on 1-105
Jerry Thomas, Yellowstone Co. Finance Director, stated the County
Attorney's opinion, Initiative 105 does not apply to any newly
formed fire service area or rural fire district.
First they are excluded because they were not taxing entities
in 1986. Second because the funding is based on a special
assessment as distinguished from a property tax. Waiting on
Attorney General's opinion.
The next meeting with Districts is March 28, 1988, 7 p.m. at
the Fire Hall.
Meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
This meeting was followed by the Fire Committee meeting on Fire
Service Areas , which opened at 8:45 p.m.
Fire Chief Darrell McGillen asked the fire committee to ask council
permission to re-inact the fire truck committee.
Chief McGillen stated the petitions were submitted to County
Commissioner's on this day for their approval.
Discussion on setting rate cost for Fire service area, length
of contract time, and expenditure, were talked to some length..
More time needed. Meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m. Next meeting
is March 28, 1988 at 7:00 p.m.
