A quorum (3 or more) present, the following action was taken
by the Committee:
The Fire Service area contract offer was $ 19,075.00 on 230
improvements and structures. Our offer was $ 30,000.00,
which is a difference of $ 10,925.00
The cost factors were:
Greater travel distance to respond to.
More man power due to-the area to be covered
Extra stress on the manpower and equipment.
New equipment and replacement of equipment.
The City taxpayers have funded and built the Fire dept. with
housing, training and equipment, none of which exists now for
rural fire protection.
There are relatively fewer people in this fire service area due
to lower density, thereby making the cost higher and 39,360
acres more of land to cover.
There has been 6 months of interim services given or $ 15,000.00
of free service.
The Fire Department has a contract of $ 1,697.00 for grass fire
protection in this area starting Aug. 16, 1988.
Motion b Marvin Carter, seconded by D.L. McGillen for
contract to be $ 28,300.00 yearly on a 7 year contract, to be
reviewed annually. Motion carried 7--1 with Earl Linger voting
"NO".
The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 p.m.
