Dear Laurel City Councilmembers,
Time has gotten away from us and the holidays are here but we did not forget your support and
participation in the dedication ceremony of the Yellowstone County Veterans Cemetery.
To see the number of people and the happy faces of the many veterans who attended the dedication was
overwhelming. Thanks to you and your participation, we truly have a community effort to have a final
resting place for our veterans. We have been busy since the dedication getting ready for our first burial and
working through contracts and agreements to make this endeavor successful. Last Friday, December 12,
2008, a WWII Veteran was the first veteran buried in the Yellowstone County Veterans Cemetery.
As Brigadier General Stanley Putnam and the many other speakers noted, this cemetery is one of the best in
the country. Our men and women who have served in the armed forces putting their lives on the line to
protect our freedoms truly deserve the wonderful cemetery that we have.
Your participation was very much appreciated and our heartfelt thanks for sharing your time with us at this
momentous occasion.
Sincerely,
