HomeMy WebLinkAboutSpecial City Council Minutes 12.09.2008MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF LAUREL December 9, 2008 A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, was held in the Council Chambers and called to order by Mayor Ken Olson at 6:15 p.m. on December 9, 2008. COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Doug Poehls Kate Hart Mark Mace Chuck Rodgers Chuck Dickerson Alex Wilkins Norm Stamper COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: Emelie Eaton OTHER STAFF PRESENT: Bill Sheridan Rick Musson Sam Painter Kurt Markegard Scott Wilm Jan Faught James Caniglia • Resolution No. R08-132: Resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a construction contract with COP Construction for the immediate replacement of the missing water intake lids from the City's water intake structure located in the Yellowstone River. Mayor Olson stated that the meeting was called to discuss Resolution No. R08-132. He stated that he signed the contract prior to the meeting by the emergency authorization allowed him by the council. The contract reflects a small increase to the one originally presented to the council. The original contract was for $94,500 and this contract is for $103,453. The slight increase is due largely to the fact that, through the efforts of city staff, another underwater diving agency was contacted. Since the agency is located out of the state, there are mobilization and demobilization costs. Council Member Dickerson recommended that a roll call of the council be taken at this time. Mayor Olson called for the roll call of the council at this time. Motion by Council Member Poehls to approve Resolution No. R08-132, seconded by Council Member Mace. There was no public comment or council discussion. A vote was taken on the motion. All seven council members present voted aye. Motion carried 7-0. Mayor Olson asked if there was any public input. There was none. ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Council Member Poehls to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Council Member Mace. There was no public comment or council discussion. A vote was taken on the motion. All seven council members present voted aye. Motion carried 7-0.
