O 00-3 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE POLICE FORCES ARREST POWERS TO INCLUDE ALL AREA UP TO FIVE MILES FROM THE CITY LIMITS AND ALONG ALL LINES OF WATER SUPPLY FOR THE CITY OF LAUREL. WHEREAS, the City of Laurel desires to exercise the power given to it through MCA§ 7-32-4301, and authorize the police of the city to make arrests of persons charged with crimes in the area within five (5) miles of the city limits, and along the city's water supply lines; NOW, THEREFORE: IT IS HEREBY ORDA1NED by the City Council for the City of Laurel, Montana, that the LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1: That Section 2.60.015 shall be added to the Code to read as follows: 2.60. 015 Police arrest authority. All police officers of the City of Laurel shall have the power to make arrests of persons committing crimes or charged with crimes: 1. Within the limits of the city; 2. Within 5 miles thereof; and 3. Along the line of water supply of the city. Section 2: That all resolutions, ordinances, and sections of the LMC inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed. Section 3: If any provision of this ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstances is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions of this ordinance which may be given effect without the invalid provisions or application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 4: This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City Council and approved by the Mayor.
