HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 564 ORDINANCE N0. 564 ORDINANCE NO. 564, BEING AN ORDINANCE SETTING FORTH RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING ALL CITY PERSONNEL, WHETHER HIRED, ELECTED OR APPOINTED, AND TO INCLUDE ALL VOLUNTEER FIRE rEPARTMENT PERSONNEL., AND ANY FUTURE PERSONNEL THAT MAY BE ADDED TO THE CITY MRCES DURING THE PERIOD OUTLINED BELOW, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR ANY VIOLATION THEREOF, IN CELEBRATION OF THE CENTENNIAL YEAR FOR THE STATE OF MONTANA, THE YEAR.OF 1964. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA, TO -wit : Section 1. That from and after the date of the passage of this Ordinance, that it will be unlawful for any MALE City Employee, or any MALE City Official, whether elected or appointed, to be clean shaven, up to and including July 6th, 1964, unless the safety of the employee shall be endangered. Final decision to be left to the discretion of the Department Head; Section 2. That from and after the date of the passage of this Ordinance, it will be unlawful for any FEMALE City Employee or any FE ALE City Official, whether elected or appointed, to speak to, or associate with, any male who is clean shaven; the only exception being in the course of City business, in which case such conversation or association shall be kept to the absolute minimum, and in the line of duty; Section 3. That all personnel of the office forces of the City of Laurel, Montana, shall wear Centennial clothing up to and including the afore-mentioned July 6, 1964, in accordance with the recommendations of the Laurel Centennial Committee; Section 4. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that between the dates of February 15th, 1964, and July 6th, 1964, inclusive, there are to be specific penalties strictly enforced against offenders of this i • Ordinance, as follows: Section 5. WHEREAS, any or all of the above personnel of the City of Laurel, Montana, violating any portion of this Ordinance will be arrested by a member of the Laurel Police Department, the penalty being a fine of two hours' time each Saturday morning, to be spent in a clean-up of the City of Laurel, Montana; Section 6. IT IS HEREBY DECLARED that an urgency and emergency is declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage.
