HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 561T ,r ORDINANCE NO. 561 BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LAUREL OF 1961, BY A CHANGE Or SALARY SCHEDULES AS PROVIDED THEREIN AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY THEREFOR. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA: Section 1, That Section 3-2 of Chapter III is hereby amended to read as follows: Mayor, The Mayor of the City shall be the chief executive officer of the City and shall have all the powers given him by law or the ordinances of the City, The Mayor shall be paid and shall receive the sum of One Thousand Six Hundred Eightya.nd no/100 Dollars ($1,680. 00) annually, to be paid in monthly installments at the first meeting of each rnonth. Section 2, That Section 3-21 of Chapter III is hereby amended tc read as follows: Alderman. Each Alderman of the City shall be paid and shall receive the sum of. Fourteen Dollars ($14, 00) per diem for each day of session, to be paid monthly at the first meeting in each month, but no Alderman shall be paid for more than two days2 services during any one month. In addition, each Alderman may be paid up to a maximum of. Six and no/100 Dollars ($6000) per month for automobile expense incurred on City business, providing that an itemized claim be properly made for the same, Section 3, That sub-section 2 of Section 3-25 of Chapter III is hereby amended to read as follows: City Attorney - Salary, The City Attorney shall receive the salary of One Thousand Eiuht Hundred and no/100 Dollars ($1,800.00) per year, which shall be paid in equal monthly installments of $150, 00, That in addition, the City Attorney shall be paid the sum of $25, 00 per month for stenographic hire. -1- Section 4. That sub-section 4 of Section 3-26 of Chapter III is hereby amended to read as follows: Police Judge - Salary. The Police Judge of the City of Laurel shall receive a salary of One Thousand Five Hundred and no/100 Dollars ($1, 500.00) per year, which shall be paid in equal monthly install- ments. Section 5. That Section 3-22 of Chapter III is hereby amended to read as follows: City Treasurer, The City Treasurer shall receive a salary of One Thousand Eight Hundred and no/100 Dollars ($1, 800, 00) per year, to be paid in equal monthly installments, and such other amount as the City Council may from Time to time order, for additional duties from different departments. The City Treasurer shall have the following duties: (1). Collect Licenses Poll Taxes and Assessments. The City Treasurer shall aithfully collect all licenses required by ordinance to be collected. (2), City Depositories, Interest On Deposits. The City Treasurer shall deposit the funds of the City, from day to day, in such banks of the City as shall be designated by the City Council as depositories. The Treasurer shall, with the Council's permission, invest any surplus funds as provided by law, in interest bearing accounts or securities, The City Council shall have the power to direct the withdrawal of all such moneys from any such bank for any reason. % Quarterly Reports of Depository. The president and cashier of every bank in which said City funds are deposited shall quarterly make a full and complete verified statement of account, showing the amount of money which has been on deposit with the bank which they represent, during the quarter, and the amount of interest they have credited or paid to the City Treasurer on account of such deposits. -2- r 0 (4). Interest Paid to General Fund. All interest paid and collected on deposit shall be, by the City Treasurer, credited to the general fund, (5). Report of Licenses Issued. The City Treasurer shall, at the end of each quarter of the fiscal year, and oftener, if required, prepare and deliver to the City Clerk a full and complete report for the quarter as to all licenses issued, giving the name of each person paying the licenses and the amount paid thereforand the business for which the same was paid, and, also, of all persons delinquent for licenses, which report shall be submitted to the Council at the next regular meeting after said report has been filed, (6). Other Duties. The other duties of the City Treasurer, are such as are specified in the political code of Montana, or may hereafter be provided by law or ordinances of the City of Laurel. Section 6. That the effective date of this Ordinance shall b Amery 1, 1963. Section 7, That it is hereby declared that an emergency exists and this Ordinance shall be effective as above provided.
