The committee reviewed the following preliminary budgets:
Building Department: Mary told the committee that the payroll portion of the Budget
Prep program is now working and the results are reflected in these budgets. Capital
outlay items requested include a new pickup and engineering equipment to survey lot
lines, curb and gutters, etc.
Fire Inspector: Requests a new set of fire codes.
Public Works Director: Salary has been split into ten different areas with the net
resulting in 50% remaining in the General Fund rather than 100%. Distribution of the
other 50% went to Street Maintenance, Gas Tax, Water, Sewer and Solid Waste Funds.
New equipment requests include a laptop computer and a plotter to print maps.
Cemetery: Funds were again budgeted for curb and gutter. There was some discussion
on acquiring more land, and Mary was instructed to research whether the perpetual care
funds could be used for land purchase/collateral.
Shop: Proposed a new building to house police, fire and ambulance storage. Larry is
still negotiating on the State Highway Department property, which could be vacated
during the 2000-2001 fiscal year.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. The next preliminary budget work session is
Wednesday, April 26th at 7:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
