OF ADJI/STS. DEPARTN~ENT The meeting of the Board of Adjustments was called to order at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, 1993, with the following present: Others present: Andy Muri, Chairman Robert Western Marvin Carter Bruce Teeters John Goodman Cal Cumin, City Planner Joe Bradley, City Attorney Cheryll Lurid, City Secretary Mike Baney Richard Everhard VARIANCE 93-02. SCMESSLER Fee paid. Advertised 2 times in the Laurel Outlook 8/18 & 8/25 of 1993. All property owners within 300 feet were notified. No protests were receLved. Mr. Schessler has asked for a variance on the property located at "0" W. 5th (400 block), which is Lot 10, and the north 20 feet of Lot 9, Block ? of Laurel Heights Subdivision. The property has been used over the years as several commercial ventures. Mr. Schessler would like to be able to sell a 3,500 sq. foot piece to Mr. Richard Everhard for a small residence. Zoning is R 6,000 which requires 6,000 sq. feet per residence. Cal states that the variance will also have to stipulate two other factors which are lot coverage and mxnimum backyard setback. Lot coverage is 30%, and the minimum backyard setback is 20 feet. Because the lot is being cut into half the original size, both coverage and setback will have to be waived. He would also like to' see the Board limit the house and garage to 1,000 square feet. Me feels that there is a hardship due to the past uses of the property. Me has no problem with the Board granting the variance. Joe Bradley also would like to see the house limited to 1,000 square feet, and also feels that this is a warranted variance application and that it' should be granted. Motion by Robert Western, seconded by Bruce Teeters that the variance be granted, and that variances for percentage of lot City of Laurel is an EEO Employer coverage and minimum setback for backyard also presented, and that the total square footage of garage together be limited to 1,000 sq. feet. unanimously with the vote being 5--0. be granted as the house and Motion carried Respectfully submitted, Cheryll Lund, Secretary
