CITY HALL MEMBERS PRESENT: OTHERS PRESENT: Andy Muri, Chairman Bruce Teeters Bob Western Johnny Western Roberta Weninger, 2751 Pronghorn Harry Frank, 519 Washington FILE NO. 95-02. FRANK. Fee was paid. Advertisements appeared in the Laurel Outlook on 5/24/95 & 5/31/95. No protests were received. Cal Cumin, City Planner, was unable to attend the meeting but wrote a letter to the chairman stating his approval for this variance. (see attached) Harry Frank spoke concerning his application. He stated that most of the homes, garages and sheds in that area do not conform to the building setback rules. He wants this garage to put his motorhome in. His motorhome now sits along side the street. Bruce Teeters stated that he knows the Frank's situation with their motorhome and he feels that it would make the area safer if they could keep it off of the street. Andy Muri states that there is a boulevard in the area and there seems to be plenty of visibility both directions. Motion by Bruce Teeters, seconded by Johriny Goodman, to approve the variance for setbacks and lot coverage, as applied for. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 7:36 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Chery~l Lund, Secretary P.O. I recommend the Board approve this request to allow the Franks to replace their existing garage with a new, larger one. Although this violates the setback provisions of the City of Laurel, it conforms to adjacent setbacks in the neighborhood. The new garage will also produce better taxable values for the City and will generally enhance the neighborhood. In this case the desires of the individual for favorable treatment are not at the expense, real or imagined, &the City or the property owner§ neighbors. Sorry I can not be at your meeting. Sincerely, ,! -Cal Cumir~ AICP. Planning Director City of Laurel is an EEO Employer
