COUNCIL CHAMBERS MEMBERS PRESENT: OTHERS PRESENT: Andy Mud, Chairman Bruce Teeters Bob Westem Marvin Carter Johnny Goodman Cai Cumin Larry McCann A.C. Temple File No. 96-08. A.C. Temple 619 Birch. Relief of Setbacks Mr. Temple explained his proposal to expand his front porch size and cover it, and the extension of the carport and the proposed covering of the back deck (existing concrete was poured many years ago). Larry McCann, City Building/Fire Inspector, explained to the board the fire and building code reasons for the setbacks. Cai recommended approval based on the need for continued reinvestment in the city's older neighborhoods. He also said that the planned addition would be mostly of metal and therefore will not create a fire hazard. Furthermore he stated that the new roof drainage will elevate the flooding of the property to the south. Cai went on to explain that if, in the future, the owner wishes to build walks in the side setbacks instead of leaving the sides of the carport and rear patio open, the owner will have to re-apply for a vadance to the zoning board and to the building department. Motion by Bruce Teeters, seconded by Marvin Carter, to approve the variance subject to denial of the request for variances affecting the setbacks from the front property line for the carport and the proposed front port. Front building line to remain as is. Motion carried 5--0. A 15 minutes video was presented to the board by Larry McCann for the edification of the Board and the Planning Director. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Cheryll Lund, Secretary
